Exploded organ (working title)
This piece would be a landmark sculpture using
recycled organ pipes that would rise 10 metres into
the air. The organ pipes would be gilded in gold and
played by specially designed blowers that would
trigger sound from the pipes at selected times of the
day (this could act as a time piece). Not only will the
sculpture produce the beautiful and melodic tones
unique to organ pipes but I enjoy the idea that people
will be waiting under the structure to hear what the
short piece of music to be played will be that day. I
can see children dragging their parents to see and
hear the sculpture and it will become a meeting place.
Inspiration
I have used organ pipes in my work before and in a
sense greating the Exploded organ would be the
culmination of past reseach, for examples please
